Moyna Macgill |
Moyna Macgill was an Irish actress best known for her
work on the London stage.
She made her professional stage debut in Love in a Cottage
(1918). A few of her other stage credits include
Interference (St. James' Theatre in London, 1927), The Great
God Brown (in London, 1928-29), and The Boy Friend
(1954). Interference was directed by Gerald du Maurier,
and was a great success, running for 412 performances.
Moyna's feature film credits include Jane Eyre
(1944), Frenchman's Creek (1944), National Velvet
(1944), Winged Victory (1944), The Strange Affair
of Uncle Harry (1945), The Picture of Dorian Gray
(1945), Black Beauty (1946), The Unsinkable Molly Brown
(1964) and My Fair Lady (1964).
Moyna was the mother of multi-Tony award-winning actress
Angela Lansbury, best-known for her portrayal of
Jessica Fletcher on TV's Murder, She Wrote.
